ABOUT

Vegan sanctuary photogapher James Gibson cuddles a pig and takes a selfies at Dean Farm Trust Animal Sanctuary

I'm a vegan animal sanctuary photographer based in South West England. My goal is to promote the lives and stories of the animals rescued from various states of exploitation and abuse, as well as the sanctuaries who give them a loving home for life.

I started out by following my Dad (a landscape photographer himself: Matt Gibson Photography) around with my phone and taking the same photos that he was taking, but with none of the hard work. To my surprise, I actually really enjoyed it, so I bought my first DSLR. I started off doing landscape photography (something I still very much enjoy) and honing my skills on the moors and coasts of Somerset & Devon.

Having two Springer Spaniels (Max & Poppy), I also spent a lot of time practicing my photogaphy on them, it turns out they are natural posers!

I have a strong passion for animals and animal rights, so I did some research into animal rights and came across We Animals Media, I was immediately captivated, after seeing what Jo-Anne McArthur had achieved with We Animals Media, I knew what I wanted to do. So, as well as photographing pets, I also provide my services for free to animal sanctuaries in a bid to spread awareness of the animal world that is often hidden from us.

In September 2021, I am delighted to say, a dream came true when I became a We Animals Media Contributor, but this is just the beginning! I am now also member of the Vegan Traders Union, a definitive directory of vegan businesses in the UK
